BONDING GOES BACK TO THE DAWN OF COSMOS

Abstract

Bonding is a life-long process that already starts before conception. It is a the linking process that bridges the pre and the postnatal, and prepares the child to safely and meaningfully connect with the world and whatever life on Earth is. Aspects of bonding in preconception and conception as well as in pregnancy and birth are highlighted, so that the connection to pre-, gestational, then peri- and postnatal growth can be made. A list of bonding support issues accompanies the view of parent and child development within the psychocultural, space/ time environment, so that taking responsibility for personal health and growth at different stages becomes possible. All in all, bonding is about strengthening the life-enhancing polarity versus the life-diminishing one.
